The Story
Sidwell Friends School was founded in 1883 by Thomas Sidwell, a Quaker educator from Wilmington, Delaware. Originally called the T.W. Sidwell's Friends Select School, it began in a row house on I Street NW. The school moved to its current Wisconsin Avenue campus in 1957. Sidwell Friends is known for educating the children of many prominent Washington families, including multiple presidential children. The school maintains its Quaker values of integrity, equality, and service while providing a rigorous academic program.
