The Story

Janney Elementary School opened in 1925, named after Stuart Janney, a prominent Baltimore attorney and civic leader who served on the DC Board of Education. The original building was designed in the Colonial Revival style typical of DC public schools of that era. The school has undergone several renovations and expansions over the decades to accommodate the growing Tenleytown community. Today, Janney is known for its strong academic programs and active parent community.
