The Story
Murch Elementary School was established in 1929 and named after Thompson Murch, a labor leader and congressman who represented Massachusetts. The school was built to serve the rapidly developing Chevy Chase DC neighborhood. The distinctive brick building features Georgian architectural elements and has been a cornerstone of the community for nearly a century. Murch has consistently been recognized as one of the top-performing elementary schools in the District.
