The Story

Saint Sophia has served the Orthodox faithful in Washington DC since 1904, making it one of the oldest Greek Orthodox communities in America. The current Byzantine-style cathedral was built in 1956 and features beautiful iconography and traditional Orthodox architecture. The cathedral serves as the seat of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta.
