The Story

The Friends Meeting of Washington was established in 1930 and the historic meetinghouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The building includes timbers from the White House, salvaged during the 1814 repair after the British burning. President Herbert Hoover and Lou Henry Hoover began worshipping here on January 4, 1931. The Meeting is LGBTQ-affirming and accessible with an elevator.
