Chef Mark Bucher revolutionized the steakhouse concept with a simple premise: one dish, done perfectly. The no-menu restaurant serves only steak frites with secret sauce, salad, and bread. The concept was so successful it spawned locations across the region.

What Was Here Before

Wisconsin Avenue in Tenleytown has been a commercial corridor since the streetcar era. This building housed various retail and restaurant tenants throughout the 20th century.

Neighborhood Context

Medium Rare became a neighborhood institution, proving that Tenleytown could support destination dining beyond its traditional role as a convenience retail strip.
