The Story

Founded in 1984 by Carla Cohen and Barbara Meade, Politics and Prose quickly became a gathering place for book lovers, journalists, and policymakers. The store's name reflects the founders' belief in the power of books to engage civic life. After Cohen's passing in 2010, the store was purchased in 2011 by Bradley Graham and Lissa Muscatine, who have continued its tradition of literary excellence and community engagement. The store expanded to include a coffeehouse and additional locations.
