The Story

The Katzen Arts Center opened in 2005 as a 130,000-square-foot facility designed by architect EYP. Named after donors Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen, the center houses the American University Museum, the Greenberg Theatre, studio spaces, and classrooms. The museum showcases rotating exhibitions of contemporary art and maintains the Alper Initiative, dedicated to Washington-area artists.
