The Story
The DC Jewish Community Center traces its roots to 1926 when it was established to serve the Jewish community of Washington. The current facility on 16th Street NW, named for major benefactors Carole and Marcus Edlavitch, houses Theater J (founded 1990), one of the nation's largest and most respected Jewish theaters, along with fitness facilities, art galleries, and program spaces. The DCJCC serves as a bridge between Jewish and broader Washington communities through its diverse cultural programming.
